It seems like an old Disney TV film but it is a fascinating documentary on how product design was approached in the sixties.
"The Decanter" is actually a promotional film by the legendary Landor Associates, a multinational agency founded in 1941 and specialised in brand design and corporate identity. Walter Landor himself is the speaker accompanying the creative and strategic process of designing a new bottle together with its packaging. The set is the splendid wooden ferry "Klamath", the company's historical premises, where it remained for over twenty years. Designed to carry a thousand people, Klamath was an American shipyard jewel of the twenties, bought by Walter Landor at a bankruptcy auction for 12,000 dollars and subsequently moored at Pier 5 in San Francisco bay.
