Even the Web has a more
or less significant impact
on the environment
and contributes
to polluting the planet.
Just think that a single on-line page generates,
on average, CO2 emissions
of 0.02 grams per second.
Today, the entire Web ecosystem
produces over 150 million tons of CO2
per year, equivalent to 0.3% of the worldwide total.
Aware of this we try to make our contribution.
For some time now we have been following
a series of codes of conduct and internal
procedures to contribute to protecting
the environment. For example, we use
electricity generated by alternative sources
(sun, water, wind) and carefully avoid printing
documents unless absolutely necessary.
In addition to other small expedients able
nevertheless to produce excellent results,
from the use of aware purchasing practices
to responsible use of heating and air-conditioning.
Finally, our sites are hosted on extremely powerful Web servers,
able nevertheless to save almost 60% electricity compared to standard
Web servers and to dissipate less heat.
